The purpose of this website isn't to preach, just to share recipes which taste great, are quick to make and cheap to prepare from simple ingredients that you're likely to have in your cupboard already.
it's aimed at people like me, who have no time or money and have decided that additives are unnecessary and in some cases harmful. Please feel free to adapt the recipes as you see fit and most of all, enjoy cooking and enjoy eating them!
1tsp corriander
1tsp sof brown sugar
1/2 tsp cumin
1/2 tsp turmeric
pinch salt
3 tsp peanut butter
2 tbsp vegetable oil
a little milk
1 chilli, de-seeded if desired. Use dried, powdered or paste if desired
If possible, use peanut butter without additives. Alternatively, if your blender can deal with them, use plain, unsalted, unroasted peanuts.
put all of the sauce ingredients into a blender and buzz until blended. put the meat/veg into a casserole dish, add the cashews and pour the sauce over. Cook in a medium oven until the meat is cooked or veg softened to taste.
The quantities above will make 4 or 6 flapjacks. Multiply the quantities by four to fill a standard size flat baking tray. Put all ingredients (except chocolate) into a pan and heat very gently to melt them together. Stir thoroughly. When the ingredients are well incorporated, turn out into a flat baking tray and bake in a medium heat for 20 mins.
For a delicious alternative, melt the chocolate in a small bowl over boiling water in the usual way and spread over the top of the flapjacks when cooled.
Allow the chocolate to harden in the fridge and cut the flapjack into rectangles.
