Please ensure that meat is properly raised, ie raised without growth promoters or anti-biotics. This website is not anal about being additive free but does care about animal welfare.

If possible, use peanut butter without additives. Alternatively, if your blender can deal with them, use plain, unsalted, unroasted peanuts.

Method

Brown the meat and onion in a pan. If using chopped vegetables as an alternative, steam harder vegetables such as carrots.

put all of the sauce ingredients into a blender and buzz until blended. put the meat/veg into a casserole dish, add the cashews and pour the sauce over. Cook in a medium oven until the meat is cooked or veg softened to taste.

fruit flapjacks

Ingredients

100g porridge oats
50g soft brown sugar
50g margarine
2tbsp golden syrup
fruit if desired
chocolate if desired

Buying Advice

Method

The quantities above will make 4 or 6 flapjacks. Multiply the quantities by four to fill a standard size flat baking tray. Put all ingredients (except chocolate) into a pan and heat very gently to melt them together. Stir thoroughly. When the ingredients are well incorporated, turn out into a flat baking tray and bake in a medium heat for 20 mins.

For a delicious alternative, melt the chocolate in a small bowl over boiling water in the usual way and spread over the top of the flapjacks when cooled.

Allow the chocolate to harden in the fridge and cut the flapjack into rectangles.
